API - The simplest case is that of cooperation with a CAD/RMS vendor. Some vendors expose an API to their system allowing for easy integration with external systems. In this case, a small translation layer of custom logic is used to translate between the vendor's API and the API and data formats required by BLAZE™ 2.0.

Data-Level - The next most efficient approach, albeit the one most likely to raise the CAD/RMS vendor's ire, is that of direct database access. In this case, a direct connection to the CAD/RMS systems is established. A mapping between the data structures and schema in this database and those in BLAZE™ 2.0 is configured into a data-mapping engine.

UI-Level - This is the least invasive approach and requires the highest level of sophisticated algorithms to implement but also happens to be the most durable. This toolset is able to navigate target systems as a computerized "agent" acting as a human user and intelligently captures data directly from the user interface. This agent is "driven" through the CAD/RMS system once and "taught" how to navigate the interface and extract the desired information. This approach does not violate any warrantee agreements, as it does not access the CAD/RMS system in any way that has not been specified and documented for a human user.
