Dynamic Data Exchange

DropFire IGNITE^™ integrates data from disparate sources. It addresses many of the scalability and extensibility shortcomings of traditional ETL (extraction, transformation and loading) approaches, while also reducing up-front labor. Traditional ETL requires the creation of a centralized data exchange standard. Mappings are then created to transfer data between this centralized standard and the internal data representation of the source and target systems.

With DropFire IGNITE^™, mappings are not required. A context is described for each data source or target, and DropFire IGNITE^™ mediates between these contexts, effectively creating direct mappings automatically. This context does not require knowledge of a central exchange format. It simply describes the data format of that application along with semantic concept tags and a description of security restrictions around the data. If an application context changes, DropFire IGNITE^™ mediates the new context without interruption.
